St Andrew's College Information:

St Andrew’s College was founded over 100 years ago in Christchurch, the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand, where it is the only independent, private,  co-educational school offering Pre-school to Year 13 education. There are currently 1038 students in the Secondary School (Years 9–13) and 429 students in the Preparatory School (Years 1–8). International students are warmly welcomed and supported at St Andrew’s,  where they enjoy a first-class education, learning from a rich and balanced curriculum. NCEA Level 3 qualification provides a pathway to university in New Zealand and is recognised internationally. A unique cultural experience also awaits international students, with their studies at St Andrew’s complemented by a wide range of sporting, cultural, leadership and service opportunities.

Boarding: International students can board at St Andrew’s from  

 Years 9–13, where they are well cared for by our supportive staff in three bright, modern state-of-the-art boarding houses.   

 

   •  Each boarding house has a House Manager and  

      tutors who look after the students; 

 

   •  Close supervision ensures students live comfortably  

      and securely; 

 

   •   Wi-Fi and tea and coffee making services are  

      provided for students who have after-hours access   

      to other facilities on campus; 

 

   •   All meals are provided for students by our own  

      catering team.  

  

 


Sport: International students can choose from more than 30 sports at state-of-the-art Gym 2 (both opened in St Andrew’s. The College regularly competes at the top level and is the 2016), Strowan House (a historic building current New Zealand Secondary Schools champions in several team more than 100 years old), the Dance Studio, and individual sports. Many students have the opportunity to compete in  TV and Media Studio, Theatre, The Green regional and national competitions. Centre – Library and Innovation, Fine Arts Block, Fitness Centre, Cafeteria, Health St Andrew’s College has top quality sports grounds and facilities, including  Centre, and extensive sports fields and two gymnasiums and a purpose built Fitness Centre. Its elite athletes are courts. supported by the High Performance programme and Elite Sport Studies programme. 


Culture: International students can participate in a wide range of cultural activities at St Andrew’s College including music, dance, drama and filmmaking. Every year, two Secondary School drama productions are held in the College’s Theatre along with many music festivals and competitions. State-of-the-art facilities include a TV and Media Studio; a music and recording studio with top quality acoustics and the best equipment of any school in New Zealand; and a dance studio purpose built for the College’s Ballet Academy.
