Highfield enjoys outstanding academic success and feeds the top Senior Schools in England; Winchester, Eton, Downe House and Marlborough, to name but a few. The School is set in 175 acres of glorious Hampshire countryside, and yet is less than an hour from London and Heathrow Airport.

The facilities at Highfield are truly enviable, including extensive sports pitches, together with an indoor swimming pool, new science labs, and a state of the art music school and art school. Children at Highfield enjoy an enormous variety of Sports, Music, Art & Drama as part of the regular timetable as well as in after school activities. There is always so much going on and so much to do, whatever a child's interests.

There really is no substitute for experience of boarding in a Prep School before going on to Senior School. The smaller family feel helps children settle in, and academically, they are swiftly and effectively brought up to speed with the British system and brilliantly prepared for entry to their first choice Senior School.

Highfield Summer School:

Highfield also has a Summer School course offering overseas students aged 8 – 15 years, a three week taster of life in a real English Country Boarding School; it’s a year at Highfield in miniature! The Summer School provides outstanding English language tuition, academic lessons, and familiarisation with an extensive range of Boarding School sports, activities & excursions. All in all, three weeks of inspirational learning, adventure and of course great fun! More information about the Summer School can be found

Community: Everybody who visits the school comments on how happy pupils and staff are, as well as the best relationships between adults and children you are likely to see. We actively engage with parents to listen to their views and find better ways to help and develop their children.

Academic: Highfield’s exceptional academic tradition is based on exciting, first rate teaching, reinforced by a genuinely broad and stimulating curriculum. This brings scholarship success and a flawless track record of securing every child’s place at their first choice senior school, while providing a genuinely high quality all round education.

The broad curriculum allows us to identify pupils' strengths and weaknesses and enables pupils to realise their potential across as many curriculum areas as possible. Pupils in Year 4 are taught subjects through topic work, using a range of cross-curricular stimuli to engage the children. The schemes of work for pupils in years 5-8 are designed to prepare pupils fully for entrance to their chosen Senior School at either 11+ or 13+ via Entrance Examination, Common Entrance or Scholarship Examination.

English as an Additional Language:

The appropriate English Language support is provided by specialist EAL teachers on a one to one basis. There is close liaison between English Language teachers and subject teachers to ensure that pupils receive all the support they need to enable them to have full access to the curriculum. In addition we seek to adjust the individual academic pathway of the international pupil, providing enhanced opportunities for speaking and listening, effective models for spoken and written language, and to tailor ways to help them cope with their various subjects.

Pastoral:

Highfield provides an excellent caring ethos which results in pupils that are valued, safe, happy and confident enabling them to achieve their potential and have fun! All the staff know the pupils well and promote self-confidence and self-esteem in a wide range of activities.

Highfield boarders are surrounded by caring, experienced staff from Houseparents, qualified Nurses and Matrons to Duty Teachers and Assistants, resulting in staff to pupil ratios from 1:10 to as high as 1:4 at times. We pride ourselves on keeping as many lines of communication open as we can so we are aware at once of any issues affecting an individual boarder so it can be dealt with quickly and effectively.

Sport:

There is an abundance of Sport played by pupils at Highfield and we are fortunate to enjoy extensive playing fields, a squash court, tennis courts, golf course, cross country course a sports hall and an indoor swimming pool.

Highfield takes Sport seriously and every child has the opportunity to represent the school competitively in all Sports.  Children enjoy Games lessons every day with competitive matches against other schools on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as well as weekly Physical Education and Swimming lessons. This leads to all pupils being fit, healthy and positive about their Sport and PE.
