Both TOEFL and
IELTS are acceptable. However,
IELTS is preferred in the UK,
Australia and New Zealand and
TOEFL is more commonly used

Are students allowed to work
while studying? |
|
UK
-international students are
allowed to work, but no longer
than 20 hours per week.
Australia
- international students are
allowed to work only if students
have work permit and working
hours should not exceed 20
hours per week.
New
Zealand - international
students are allowed to work,
but no longer than 20 hours
per week.
USA
- International students in
the United States are allowed
to work only within the university
campus and should not exceed
20 hours per week.

If I do not yet have the IELTS
results or if the result does
not meet the university's requirement,
can I still apply for the Postgraduate
program? |
Universities
do accept all applications without
IELTS result. However, if
students applications are accepted,
the students will probably receive
an
offer conditioned upon successful
IELTS results.
Universities
do accept applications if the
IELTS result is below their
stated requirements. However
the applications would be accepted
with
the condition, as in the UK,
that students would be asked
to attend a
Pre-sessional English classes.
The duration of the class will
depend upon
the students level of English.
Students must pass this English
course before final acceptance
to any of the postgraduate programmes |

Do I have to take the IELTS
/ TOEFL test again after I have
completed the universities
English courses? |
In some cases
universities do request students
to sit for the test. Thus, students
need to make sure on that before
accepting the offer. |

How can students contact the

abroad? |
Mentor always
welcomes questions and feedback
from students. Our staff can
be
contacted at
info@mentor.ac. In addition,
once you have arrived, you could
also
contact the International Office
at each university for further
advice either on your
study, accommodation, or a personal
problem. Please be advised that
the
International Office will be
of great assistance to you while
you are there. |

When does the academic year
begin? |
| Commonly, university
dormitories do not have private
bathroom. If the student finds
this uncomfortable, students
can rent the private accommodation
outside the campus. Your Mentor
counselor can provide you with
more information of private
accommodation. |

For
UK, the regular intake
begins in September. However,
there are some programmes that
would start in January or February.
For
Australia, the intake
begins in February. However,
there are some programmes that
would start in July.
For
New Zealand, the intake
begins in February. However,
there are some programmes that
would start in July.
For
United States, the intake
normally begins in September.
For some courses there is also
a mid year intake in January
or February.

When is the best time to submit
your application? |
It takes time
starting from the university
application until visa arrangement
and you
must remember that some universities
accept a limited number of applicants.
Therefore, students are encouraged
to plan ahead for at least 4-6
months before
the academic year begins. |

Is health check-up required
in applying for a student visa
and before the flight? |

UK
- Requirement for Tuberculosis
testing for student studying
the UK for longer than 6 months
Australia
- Applicants for a student visa
are required to undergo a health
examination including a chest
x-ray, health report. The x-ray
will be sent directly from the
doctor to the Visa Section
New
Zealand - For courses
of more than 6 months but less
than 1 year the student must
provide a Temporary Entry X-ray
Certificate
For courses of more than 1 year
you must provide a Temporary
Medical and Entry X-ray Certificate
USA
- Health check-up is not required
in the visa arrangement. However,
there will be State Public Health
Law requirements upon arrival
and student health insurance
is also a requirement. |

In applying for MBA, is GMAT
required by the universities?
|
| GMAT is a must
for students applying for MBA
to universities in United States. For UK, Australia, and
New Zealand, most universities
do not require GMAT. |
|
| 18.
When is the last day to summit
the applications? |
Normally for
the UK, Australia and New Zealand,
there is no specific deadline
in
submitting the applications.
For the USA, many
institutions have application
deadlines and you must check
with your counsellor to determine
what deadline, if any, is required.
The earlier you send the applications,
the better chance you have to
earn a place in your desired
course as well as your first
choice of accommodation. |
